I was at the meeting today at Greater new Point Missionary Baptist church, 60 Paine avenue, Irvington N.J. The meeting was put together by Kathleen Witcher, President of the Irvington Unit NAACP. This meeting was put together for homeowners to get more information on foreclosures and taxes. The speaking was informative and did provide us with alot of details and it was able to enlighten us on some things such as, what is the best thing to do to prevent foreclosure, what should we do collectively and what should we do to share information with each other? All these things are things that we all should have the chance to know and understand...........NOW! I really found the response to all good but Linda Vann-Dupree spoke about homeowners who pay their taxes separately can go to irvington tax office and speak to Mrs.Baytopps and make payment arrangements, I thought this was one of the best pieces of information of the night. She also spoke on how we can all get together to change laws and hold people accountable. If you would like to speak to Mrs. Dupree, you can reach her at lindavanndupree@yahoo.com and ask her some of the important questions you have and see how she can answer them or direct you to the answers. She also ran for council at large, so she has some good insight as to some of the things we want to know. Actually I think I am going to be one of her biggest supporters if she runs again......Also there was another lady, Almeta Walker, who spoke and gave alot of information about the real estate and appraisal process and she has a ton of information that i think we should all be aware of and share with each other. She mentioned that just by associating yourself with someone else and sharing information about the people who have helped you and given you good information, can change the way things are ultimately handled and controlled at the end. She spoke of the appraisal process, how you can do an appeal on your house appraisal and how you can get three to four prices from the houses sold in your area whether they are stressed sales, meaning foreclosed or short sale, or properties brought for nothing by investors. These things can help you in your appeal process and finding a good enough lawyer who is capable of dealing with this specifically is a task all by itself. If you would like to speak to her and get more information, please go to info@appraiser-associates.com and leave her a message or call her at 973 672 6369 and at best she can at least give you some good guiding information. She has over 30 years in the real estate business of some sort so her knowledge is worth talking to.
SO theres alot of things we need to do to get our properties and community together and one of the things that is very crucial is, everyone getting on line and being in a position that allows you to get the most current information. Most places are going to be going paperless soon and if you aren't on the computer, you will be loosing out. Find some way to make sure someone you know has internet access even if its meaning they assign someone to just get their mail online for them, but as long as people can communicate to them accordingly. Paper mail for alot of things are just not the way anymore and to costly, so emailing someone or texting their phone is the way to go in this day and time. So we have to be able to reach people through these ways of contact. This blog should be reviewed and comment on at all times and we should be communicating back and forth with each other and sharing all the things we need to share on a daily basis. This blog should allow us to voice and share, gather and know..its that simple. The one thing we dont do is communicate properly and let other s know what we a are doing and how we can get things done. Please know that in other communities they make sure everyone has the direct piece of communication needed to make changes in their community......Let me share this with you........There is a community in las vegas where everyone taxes went up and no one wanted to listen and the banks were foreclosing without listening..well the town, about 3000 people all moved out and they still dont know what to do with this town and these houses...not saying we all should move out, but soon it will be like that if we cant get a hold on this....I honestly think banks should rent the houses out to the people in foreclosures for a small amount until they can at least get themselves financially situated and then work out an agreement that works for everyone and continue on dealing with the homeowner and getting payments. I know there are going to be some that the assistance will not work because maybe they are that bad off, but for the most part it would save more than it will destroy.
So please spread this blog and as people to post on it and keep things current, voice themselves and let others know whats going on. I will be interviewing the ladies i spoke to and placing it on both my blogs, here and lsstv.com.
